Hypnotherapy:
How does it work?
What you can expect from your hypnotherapy session.
What is Hypnosis Therapy?
You might not be aware of this, but you already know how to hypnotize yourself. I am just here to help show you the way, and how to incorporate some basic techniques to quickly achieve your goals.
Have you ever daydreamed or been lost in thought? Maybe you spaced out at dinner and missed a chunk of what your spouse said. Maybe you missed your exit because you went down a rabbit hole in your mind. Ever binge-watch a show late at night and find yourself startled by the daylight creeping in?
Consider yourself hypnotized. It’s a natural, yet pleasantly altered state where you get past the busy, reptilian mind, the inner critic, and tap into the other 95% of your consciousness. Welcome to your operating system. This is where you can reset any maladaptive thinking or unwanted habits and literally rewire your brain with new healthy patterns.
HyPNOTHERAPY
Why Hypnotherapy?
With hypnotherapy, we talk directly to the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is the seat of all memories, imagination and emotions. This is where your memories are stored. So you can intellectualize your problem for hours, days, weeks, months, years … without any resolution or forward motion.
This is because you are just dealing with your conscious mind, which is only up to 10% of your total awareness. So if you want to make major changes, you have to address more than just the tip of the iceberg. You have to address the mass below the surface, your operating system.
Who is hypnotherapy good for?
What I see a lot are people who make decisions earlier in life that they have grown out of. Example: a young woman is rejected and abandoned (infidelity) and the wound is so deep she decides at the time to never love again.
Well, this is a painful experience for anyone to go through and walling your heart as a form of protection can feel like the right thing to do at the time.
But ten years later if she has no significant relationship, we can begin to explore the operating system and the beliefs and emotions at work.
It takes just the slightest willingness to want to change and love again (in this hypothetical case) to have a successful outcome with hypnosis.
It’s important to remember it was the best she knew at the time, but now it’s okay to let go of this decision and reframe and rewrite her story.
Other common issues:
- Learn to trust again after rejection and abandonment
- Learn to speak your mind
- Clear fears & phobias
- Learn to forgive and let go
- Process grief and loss and find peace again
- Stop procrastination, self-doubt and self-sabotage
- Build self-esteem and confidence
- Quit smoking
- Lose weight
- Release and let go of anxiety
- Sleep deep again
- Let go of guilt and shame
- Uncover repressed memories and find peace
- Learn emotional regulation
- Set and achieve goals
- Create the life you’ve always wanted
- Tune into the frequency of wealth and abundance
Frequently asked questions
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about hypnotherapy.
How does hypnotherapy work?
The truth is, all hypnosis is self hypnosis. We go into hypnosis often. Think about a time you took a road trip and maybe missed an exit because you were lost in thought. Or, maybe you binge-watched your favorite TV programming and were unaware of the hours that passed. This is hypnosis. We all have the ability to enter this altered, yet natural state. Hypnotherapy is a relaxed body and mind, with an awareness. Yes, there are different states of hypnosis. Most of the hypnosis we do is light or medium. You always remember the session, and you are in complete control. You would never do anything you would not want to do, and you can reject any part of the hypnotic suggestions if you disagree. As a hypnotherapist, it is my job to make sure you feel comfortable and safe. By using certain language patterns and instructing you in a certain way, we enter an agreement together to have you enter into hypnosis and achieve the goals we define together at the beginning of the session.
How long do hypnotherapy sessions last?
Most sessions are about two hours, with special work (example: past-life regressions) running longer.
How many sessions will I need to schedule?
This depends on the nature of the issues you would like to work on and if we uncover additional layers that can be cleared. Typically, the average client spends one to three sessions working on the issue they came to see me for. Additional sessions are often added when the client feels the need. A typical scenario can be: a client comes in to address burnout and stress and we work on this, uncovering the root cause in one to three sessions, and then we work on forward momentum and goal-setting and manifesting beyond this. This is just one scenario, there are many different ways to work together.
How is hypnotherapy helpful?
Hypnotherapy often clears issues, symptoms and beliefs in one to three sessions, unlike conventional therapy (cognitive, or “talk”), which many people spend years or even decades on, and never get to the root cause. So, hypnotherapy is extremely effective and powerful for people who are very serious about improving in all areas of life. When you combine hypnotherapy with other powerful modalities like breathwork, eye movement therapy (EMT), neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), Gestalt therapy (Internal Family Systems/inner child/inner critic/reparenting), childhood regression hypnotherapy, you are setting yourself up for success. All modalities work together to get beyond your inner critic and into the subconscious mind, which controls up to 95% of our behavior.
What can I expect in my first hypnotherapy session?
In your first session we will explore some of the founding emotions and beliefs behind the issue you are unhappy with and define and reframe with new healthy replacement behaviors, having set the goal for how you want to be upon completion of the session. You can expect the best for yourself because what we expect tends to be realized.
